A Certain Vacancy was borne from a trip to see family in India following a recent death. I brought my camera with the expectation to return with family portraits, but was instead moved by the photographs I took of my grandparents’ homes. The following is a series documenting the places I hold synonymous with my childhood, then filled with life but gradually emptying over the years.
